Rosemarie Martinez-Kufta HCST Foundation Trustee
Rosemarie Nicole Martinez-Kufta moved to Bayonne from Jersey City in 2009, and quickly established a foothold for her and her son Gabriel in our great city. Rosemarie is a very proud Puerto-Rican American, as evidenced by her winning Miss Puerto Rico in 2001. This incredible feat would be the cornerstone of a career that would soon see her rise to great heights.
Rosemarie attended St. Aloysius Academy and graduated in the Class of 2004. Throughout her time at St. Al's, Rosemarie devoted many hours to numerous organizations, such as Student Government, Homeroom Representative (all four years), Spanish Club, Recycling Committee, Prom Committee, and Journalism.
Rosemarie’s passion for involvement in civic engagement as a teenager turned into her life’s work, both in her educational and professional life. She earned her Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration from New Jersey City University, and her Master of Public Administration from Rutgers University Newark.
Rosemarie has worked for a form of local government since 2008, when she started at Hudson County Sheriff’s Office as the Executive Assistant for then Sheriff Juan Perez. In 2014, Rosemarie transitioned into municipal government, when newly elected Mayor Jimmy Davis, appointed her as his Executive Assistant. Her skills were clearly evident, as her role afforded her many high-visibility projects. Due to her incredible work ethic, combined with a results-oriented drive, Mayor Davis appointed her Chief of Staff in 2017. Rosemarie served as Chief of Staff for three years, before becoming the city's first-ever Latina to be appointed as the Tax Collector in 2021.
Rosemarie's eagerness to learn, along with her desire to succeed have compounded her value to the community, as these traits support her ultimate goal, which is to serve the residents of our great city. Rosemarie has worked on economic development projects, municipal financing, and other governmental issues which impact the lives of our 73,000 residents. Her political savviness is also highlighted by her role as the elected Vice Chairperson of the Bayonne Democratic Committee. Rosemarie also contributes to our community by serving as both a Board Member and Secretary of the Bayonne Community Day Care Nursery.
In addition to her devotion to city government, Rosemarie owns and runs a small business, called "RNM Consulting", which caters to young professionals.
Rosemarie always ensures that she finds time to spend with her son Gabe, as he grows so quickly. Gabe is a budding drum player and baseball star.
